About Me

I am a regular girl living in a very irregular world.
I am in my early 30s, happily divorced and trying to make the world around me a better place. I have many identities: Muslim, Arab, American, half breed, woman, oppressed, occupied, denied, survivor, animal lover, bird enthusiast, tree hugger, lover and sometimes fighter.

I blog about whatever comes to my mind. I have so many thoughts and opinions and sometimes writing things down is a way of thinking them through. The title of my blog was

chosen because one thing I admire so much is seeing a single flower growing where no flower has business being, out of the concrete wall of highway, a rock, the side of the house, between sections of sidewalk, or in contaminated soil. That flower stands up against adversity, against stereo types, assault, abuse and extermination and remains tall, showing its beauty and defiance to the entire world.

I try to be that flower. Sometimes I fall down, but then the rains come and wash it all away and I stand up tall and beautiful once again.
